Tips for Driving a Rental Car in Thailand

  1. In Thailand, drivers drive on the left-hand side of the road and overtaking is allowed on the right hand-side.
  2. Pay heed to the traffic lights, do not drive if you are drunk, wear proper seat belts and take U-turn with caution.
  3. Driving in Thailand is totally different from driving in western countries, make sure you have all your attention on the road while you are driving.
  4. Honking, tail-gating and changing lanes is quite common in Thailand, so be mentally prepared for all these things.
  5. Police may ask you to pull over for a small check. Always have your documents and car rental agreement and follow the rules to avoid any penalties.
  6.  Drivers usually never stop at an intersection and do not assume that the drivers going before you will remain in the same lane.
  7. You can park your Thailand car rental almost anywhere, just make sure it is not hampering the flow of the traffic.
